There are very curious goings-on at Amazon.com, where books with gay themes have apparently been pulled from the bestseller rankings, and consequently don't appear in user searches.

First, Amazon told the LA Times that their actions were based on the "adult" content of these books, although plenty of books with (hetero) sexual and grown-up themes remain in the rankings.  Now they're saying a "glitch" is responsible and they're going to fix it.

Either way, it's unsettling to think the world's biggest bookseller is starting to censor its rankings based on subjective criteria.

The Twitter hashtag #amazonfail was number one yesterday as users discussed this new Amazon "policy."
