A new survey of 40 emerging market corporations by EIRIS has found that some already matched their developed economy peers on corporate responsibility.

The survey assessed 40 major companies in ten emerging markets: Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Israel, South Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Russia and South Africa.

The criteria for the assessment of corporate responsibility performance included corporate governance, bribery, human rights, labor standards in the supply chain, health and safety, environment, climate change and biodiversity

"Meg Voorhes, Research Director of the Social Investment Forum, said: ‘This report demonstrates
that the demand for corporate responsibility and disclosure is truly global, and that companies in
emerging markets are beginning to respond and, in some cases, leading the way."

The survey was conducted in partnership with the Sustainable Investment Research Analyst Network (SIRAN), a working group of the Social Investment Forum (SIF).
