The Better Business Bureau's logo can be found adorning many a letterhead or website of a US corporation or small business. But what is it worth?
An investigative piece by David Lazarus in the Los Angeles Times suggests it could be worth an entire grade. Paying for BBB accreditation, Lazarus argues, appears to account for about one notch of improvement on the ethics agency's A to E scale versus similarly reputable businesses who have not paid for accreditation.
The BBB denies that it is engaged in pay to play ethics ratings.
