Amazon has apologized to customers for an "embarrassing and hamfisted" delisting of over 57,000 titles in an apparent attempt to make their website more "family-friendly."  The company has been inundated with customer complaints over the past few days, as thousands of titles with gay themes have disappeared from the sales rankings, effectively rendering them invisible on the site.  Amazon says that other categories have been affected by the "glitch" as well, including health, sexuality, and erotica.  They say they are "fixing" the problem and ensuring that all missing books are relisted ASAP.

What they have not addressed yet is why they felt the need to make the site more "family-friendly," i.e. "sexualty-free," in the first place.
